Nadia Montenegro has once again found herself in the spotlight—this time not for a teleserye comeback or movie role, but for her sudden exit from the political scene.

The former actress has officially resigned as political affairs officer to Senator Robin Padilla following whispers linking her to alleged marijuana use inside the Senate premises.

Padilla’s chief of staff, Atty. Rudolf Philip Jurado, confirmed on Monday that Nadia’s resignation letter had been received—and accepted.

“Today, we received the written explanation and letter of resignation of Ms. Nadia Montenegro. Her resignation has been accepted,” Jurado said.

The controversy first gained traction when Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero ordered an investigation into reports of marijuana use by a Senate staffer.

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) later released its findings, where Montenegro’s name surfaced.

Montenegro, however, has denied the accusations, insisting she neither smoked nor used marijuana inside the Senate ladies’ room.

Before her resignation, she had been asked to go on leave while the inquiry was ongoing.

For now, Montenegro is stepping away from her political duties, leaving fans wondering if she’ll retreat quietly from the public eye permanently or stage another showbiz-style comeback after the smoke clears.
