Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Authorities seized sacks of suspected shabu worth around P802.4 million in Mariveles, Bataan, on Thursday, August 14, following a tip from a concerned citizen.

Police said six sacks containing 118 packs of suspected illegal drugs, weighing around 118 kilograms, were recovered on the shoreline of Barangay Sisiman near the lighthouse.

Responding swiftly to the report, joint operatives from the Mariveles Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bataan, under the supervision of Police Col. Marites A. Salvadora, provincial director of Bataan Police Provincial Office, secured the area and retrieved the contraband.

The seized items were turned over to Police Lt. Col. Amilyn Maclid of the Bataan Forensic Unit for laboratory testing and proper action.

Police Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) director, praised the swift action of the operating units and the vigilance of the public.

“This significant recovery is a testament to what can be achieved when the community and law enforcement work hand-in-hand,” Peñones said.

“We commend the concerned citizen who came forward and our operating units for their swift and coordinated action. Every kilo of drugs we take off the streets is a step closer to safeguarding our communities and securing a better future for our nation,” he added.
