Joy Barcoma, a stunning young beauty from Bacoor City was officially crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2025 on Aug. 10.

An early front-runner from the get-go, Barcoma outshone 35 other hopefuls at the glittering 25th anniversary edition of the eco-themed national pageant, held at the ultra-posh Cove Manila in Okada Manila, Parañaque City.

She takes the crown from Irha Mel Alfeche — last year’s queen and the lone Asian to crack the Top 12 at Miss Earth 2024 right here in Manila.

Now, all eyes are on Barcoma as she gears up to represent the country in the Miss Earth pageant later this year.

Can she bring home the crown and become the fifth Filipina Miss Earth? The stakes — and the sparkle — couldn’t be higher.

Also stepping into the spotlight: Miss Philippines-Air Liz Mabao of Antipolo City, Miss Philippines-Water Angel Rose Tambal of La Paz, Leyte, Miss Philippines-Fire Jaymie Strickland from Tallahassee, Florida, and Miss Philippines Ecotourism Kriezl Jane Torres of Talakag, Bukidnon.

Founded in 2001 by Carousel Productions, Miss Philippines Earth is the sister pageant of Miss Earth — one of the prestigious Big Four international competitions, both championing sustainability and environmental awareness.

The Philippines already has four Miss Earth winners: Karla Henry (2008), Jamie Herrell (2014), Angelia Ong (2015), and Karen Ibasco (2017).

With the glittering theme “The Silver Lining,” this year’s coronation night also turned into a fabulous reunion of former queens, including 2023 Miss Philippines Earth Yllana Marie Aduana, now Miss Universe Philippines second runner-up, who also bagged Miss Earth-Air in Vietnam.

From green advocacy to gold-standard beauty — Joy Barcoma is proof that saving the planet never goes out of style.
