Weljon Mindoro, trumpeted as one of the next important Filipino boxers, is set for a quick ring return against Colombian Dormedes Potes in an eight-round middleweight bout at the ProBox Center in Plant City, Florida on Aug. 15.
Only more than a month removed since last seeing action, Mindoro, a known knockout astist, is staking his undefeated 14-0-1 record with all the victories by way of knockout against Potes, who is fighting for the first time in more than a year.
The pride of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur is coming off a sensational first round knockout victory over the erstwhile undefeated Mexican Omar Munguia just last June.
Prior to that fight, Mindoro also joined Manny Pacquiao in his training camp in Los Angeles for the Mario Barrios fight alongside other Filipino former champions and fellow top prospects Mark Magsayo, Jerwin Ancajas, Eumir Marcial and Carl Jammes Martin.
Potes, on the other hand, last fought in June last year, absorbing his third straight defeat for a 14-7-1 record with 10 KOs.
