Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla vowed to prosecute all those found involved in the case of the missing “sabungeros,” revealing on Friday, July 18, that more than 30 individuals are currently under investigation.

The announcement came after Remulla met with accused and whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, who visited him at the Department of Justice (DOJ).

According to Remulla, Patidongan’s testimonies suggest that “there may be more than 30 persons” implicated in the disappearance of the cockfight enthusiasts.

While Remulla declined to name the suspects, Patidongan has already pointed to a businessman, an actress, and several police officers—who have all denied any involvement.

“The DOJ has been conducting the investigation and will prosecute those found involved,” Remulla emphasized.

“We are going through that process. ‘Yun ang aming tinatrabaho,” he also said.

At the same time, Remulla said that so far, Patidongan has been “very reliable.”

“Marami s’yan alam talaga and so we have to know what he knows,” he also said.

Although Patidongan has not yet been placed under the DOJ’s Witness Protection Program (WPP), Remulla said “the door is open.” (Jeffrey Damicog)
