MALASIQUI, Pangasinan — An 80-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her grandson, who was later found dead with a self-inflicted wound in a nearby rice field in Barangay Alacan here on Monday, July 7, authorities reported Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Soledad, sustained stab wounds in the chest. Her grandson, Teodoro, 39, was named the suspect.
According to police investigators, Teodoro had reportedly been exhibiting signs of mental instability prior to the incident.
After the fatal attack, the suspect fled and was later found a kilometer away with self-inflicted wounds to the throat and still holding the weapon.
Both individuals were rushed to Malasiqui Municipal Hospital but were declared dead.
Crime scene investigators were requested to process and investigate the area. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
