Lolit Solis, veteran entertainment columnist, talent manager and talk show host, has passed away.

She was 78.

Her death was confirmed by her daughter, Sneezy, Friday.

Lolit succumbed to cardiac arrest Thursday, July 3.

During her decades long tenure in show business, Lolit managed the career of several big stars including Gabby Concepcion, Tonton Gutierrez, Christopher de Leon, Lorna Tolentino, Rudy Fernandez, and Bong Revilla.

She also hosted the now-defunct entertainment talk of GMA, “Startalk,” for 20 years.

She also hosted “Star Patrol” on radio.

In 2022, Lolit revealed that she had kidney disease that required her to undergo dialysis twice a week.

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) released a statement following her passing.

It read in part:

“SPEEd is deeply mourning the loss of Philippine entertainment’s one and only Lolit Solis.

Nanay or Manay Lolit, as we called her with genuine love and respect, was a fearless, unapologetic, and unforgettable figure, not just in showbiz but throughout the country.

A celebrity in her own right, she captured people’s attention with her boldness, her sharp wit, and her unique way of telling stories.

For the entertainment press in particular, she shaped the industry through her work as a columnist, talent manager, and TV host, leaving her mark on all of us who cover this beat today.

We will always be grateful to her for that, and even more so for the genuine concern, kindness, and love she showered upon so many of us.”
