Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto called for peace and unity during the turnover ceremony for newly elected city officials on Monday, June 30, urging political opponents to set aside differences for the greater good of the city.

“Sa lahat ng aming katunggali, we extend a hand of peace, we extend a hand of unity. Kung maaari, magtulungan tayo para sa ikagaganda ng ating lungsod,” Sotto said during the event in Barangay Rosario.

Sotto also ended months of speculation by announcing he will not be running for any position in the 2028 elections.

“2028, hindi ako tatakbo. Ngayon pa lang sinasabi ko na sa inyo, kaya malaya akong gawin kung ano ang tingin kong tama,” Sotto said.

He emphasized that his pronouncement was not politically motivated but rather driven by transparency and a commitment to serve.

“At ‘yung hindi ko masabi nung campaign period, ngayon p’wede ko na pong sabihin,” he added.

He said he is ready to work with anyone who shares the goal of making Pasig an even better city. (Richielyn Canlas)
