A 39-year-old woman was arrested in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, on Saturday afternoon, June 21, for allegedly blackmailing a man using explicit photos and videos.
The Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 2 said the suspect, identified only as Yana, was nabbed in an entrapment operation.
She is now facing multiple charges for violating Article 294 (Robbery with Intimidation against Persons) of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
Police Brig. Gen. Bernard R. Yang, PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group chief, lauded the RACU-2 for the successful operation.
“We will not tolerate those who exploit others through fear and intimidation. The PNP ACG is committed to holding offenders accountable and bringing them to justice,” Yang said, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any form of cyber exploitation. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
