A woman’s long-awaited transformation turned into a disappointment after a botched nose lift procedure — prompting her to file a complaint that led to the arrest of two fake Vietnamese doctors operating a clinic in Makati City.
According to Police Col. Marlon Quimno, director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR), the woman sought their help after the result of her nose lift, done using Korean filler, did not meet her expectations.
The CIDG launched an entrapment operation on June 16 at a clinic inside Bel-Air Village in Makati City after hearing her story.
“She complained that the nose lift was not the way she expected it to be, that’s why she requested for our assistance. We went back to have them correct the procedure, but it was part of our operation,” said Quimno.
After the procedure was done, CIDG operatives moved in and arrested two Vietnamese nationals — “Nguyen,” female, and “Phuong,” male — for alleged illegal practice of medicine.
Quimno said receipts seized during the operation indicated that the pair had been illegally practicing medicine in the country.
“They are not doctors, they are not also medical technologists or whatever. But probably they do their nose lift procedure well and they probably learned that from their friends,” said Quimno.
He noted that the two Vietnamese are good-looking, which maybe one the reasons why many Filipino clients sought their service.
The suspects are now in CIDG custody and face charges under Republic Act 4224, also known as the Medical Act of 1959.
Authorities are coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration in relation to the case of the arrested Vietnamese.
