The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced on Friday, June 13, that it is working to locate a person with disability (PWD) who was physically assaulted aboard a public bus, vowing to provide medical, psychological, and legal assistance.
The agency condemned the attack as “inhuman.”
A video of the assault, which has circulated on social media, shows the victim visibly distressed while being physically attacked by several individuals.
The footage reportedly captures the victim being “kicked, punched, and even electrocuted.”
Morata emphasized the agency’s commitment to ensuring the victim receives comprehensive support.
Morata pointed out that the government is committed to protecting the rights and welfare of PWDs and ensuring their inclusion in development efforts.
He urged the public to report any information that could help identify the perpetrators. (Ellalyn Ruiz)
