GMA Network has rejected a settlement offer from Television and Production Exponents (TAPE), Inc. in a bid to resolve the ₱37.9 million estafa case filed by the network.
According to a “24 Oras” report, the refusal happened during a mediation meeting at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Apparently, GMA deemed the offer insufficient, prompting the case to be re-raffled to another prosecutor for preliminary investigation.
In their complaint, GMA accuses TAPE of failing to remit advertising revenues owed under their 2023 Assignment Agreement. Instead, the production company allegedly used the funds for its own operational expenses.
GMA legal counsel Atty. Lynn Delfin stood firm, stating, “We want to collect the amount that was misappropriated… despite repeated demands, hindi nabigay sa atin yun.”
TAPE, through its lawyer Atty. Maggie Garduque, acknowledged there are outstanding obligations but questioned whether the matter should be treated as a civil or criminal issue.
While GMA remains open to future settlement talks, Delfin emphasized that any offer must be reasonable.
