Alas Pilipinas outhustled Indonesia Proliga champion Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi, 25-23, 27-29, 25-21, 25-22, at the start of the three-day Invitationals on Tuesday night, June 10, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Former NCAA Most Valuable Player Louie Ramirez spearheaded the Nationals’ assault by unloading 25 points built on 21 attacks, three blocks and one ace.

The tournament serves as one of Alas Men’s training grounds for their participation in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship that the country is hosting in September.

National team mainstay Steve Rotter also flexed his might by firing 14 points on 12 kills, one ace and one block even as Buds Buddin also contributed seven attacks, three blocks and one ace for 11 points.

Alas Men head coach Angiolino Frigoni shuffled his stalwarts to allow them the feel of the competition, with almost everyone contributing a little of everything.

The Filipino spikers next face Korean Volleyball League champions Hyundai Capital Skywalkers on Wednesday night, June 11.
