Truly memorable.

The University of Perpetual Help Junior Altas made NCAA Season 100 doubly special after winning the Juniors Volleyball crown on Sunday, June 8, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

With John Lat leading the team’s bristling attack, the Junior Altas eked out a thrilling 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9 win in their sudden death with the Letran Squires before a huge and happy supporters.

The title win – the school’s 13th since joining the league in 1984 – enabled coach Sandy Rieta to heave a big sigh of relief after its men’s and women’s teams fell short of their missions.

“Masaya ako sa resulta ito ng hardwork ng mga bata na umabot kami sa Game 3 at nag-Champion pa,” said Rieta.

As usual, Lat delivered MVP numbers with a game-high 22 points off 15 in attacks, 6 in blocks and an ace.

Rieta also got significant numbers from Zyro Ornos (19) Nathan Ciriaco (16), Gabriel Macatuno (16) and Resty Santos (12)

Junior Altas setter Charles Concino also recorded 18 digs and 19 excellent sets.

The Junior Altas took Game 1 but the Squires forced a deciding Game 3 with a Game 2 victory.

But Lat and company made sure they would fail again as they played inspired game right from the start although the Squires refused to give the fight and the title easily.
