The deal that would have Jordan Heading and Mikey Williams switching places has finally gotten the green light from the PBA trade committee, the league announced on Monday, June 2.
The approval came five days after both TNT and Converge came to terms to trade their marquee guards.
With the green light, Heading can now formally attend the practice of the Tropang 5G though he is not expected to suit up anytime soon as he is still recovering from a nagging back injury.
His addition, though, is no doubt a big boost for the Grand Slam bid of TNT especially after Rey Nambatac joined Jayson Castro to the sidelines due to a groin injury.
Heading, a proven three-point shooter and able playmaker, should also blend well to the Tropang 5G stars Calvin Oftana and RR Pogoy.
Converge, on the other hand, can now start with its negotiations with Williams. The flamboyant guard hasn’t seen action in the PBA for two seasons now after a contract impasse with his former team TNT.
Should the FiberXers manage to sign the two-time Finals MVP, he can form a potent backcourt rotation with Alec Stockton and Schonny Winston while the twin towers of Justine Baltazar and Justin Arana should also benefit from his playmaking skills.
