The Arellano University Chiefsquad further cemented its status in the NCAA cheerleading competition after capturing a sixth straight title in Season 100 on Thursday, May 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Though not flawless with several falls early in their routine, the Chiefsquad managed to finish strong and gain 218 points en route to retaining their title.
It was also the Chiefsquad’s seventh crown in the last eight staging of the event, pocketing P100,000 top purse
Lucky San Juan, the Chiefsquad’s head coach, thanked their supporters and vowed they will not stop from here.
“Hindi kami titigil, kulang pa,” he said.
University of Perpetual Help, which holds the record for most number of titles, came up short of regaining its lost glory as it settled for second with 210.5 points. They went home with a P75,000 prize.
Letran managed to make it to the podium for another time, finishing third with 210.5 points to go home with P50,000.
Interestingly, it has been the same Top 3 finishers over the last three seasons.
Mapua finished fourth with 193.5 points, followed by San Beda with 190.5, College of St. Benilde with 184, Emilio Aguinaldo College with 170, Jose Rizal University with 162.5, and San Sebastian College with 144.5.
Lyceum also performed, but was not given a score as it lacked the required number of performers due to injuries.
