A drug suspect previously arrested in Antipolo, Rizal turned out to be a notorious hitman operating in the city and nearby towns, police revealed on Sunday.
In an interview, Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo, Antipolo City police chief, said the suspect, identified as “Pablo,” 40, is an assassin tasked by his drug syndicate to eliminate individuals who fail to remit sales from the group’s drug operations.
“Sila ‘yung nauutusan ng grupo upang pumatay ng mga hindi nagre-remit ng bayad nila. Masisiguro namin na s’ya ay involved sa iba’t bang shooting incidents dito sa Antipolo at mga karatig bayan,” Manongdo said.
Pablo has denied the police’s allegations against him, claiming that he is just a drug courier for the group and not an assassin.
The suspect was nabbed on F. Manalo Street in Barangay San Roque by patrolling Antipolo police officers on Sunday, May 18.
Based on the police report, the policemen spotted the suspect acting suspiciously while walking with a motorcycle helmet.
When approached, Pablo suddenly ran away from the cops and threw away his belt bag containing 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000 and a digital weighing scale.
Pablo is currently in the custody of the Antipolo PNP and faces charges for violating Section 11 of Republic Act 9165, along with murder charges. (Patrick Garcia)
