The spirit of community, health and fitness comes alive Sunday, May 18, as the Shopwise Bike Fest returns to the Vermosa Sports Hub in Imus City, Cavite, drawing 2,862 cyclists of all ages and backgrounds.
With a clear mission to promote an active lifestyle and foster stronger community bonds, this year’s second staging of the event proves even bigger and bolder than before.
The event features multiple race categories tailored to varying skill levels and distances, including 30km, 45km and 60km fun rides, with the 45-km category drawing the highest turnout of 1,195.
For the younger generation, riders aged 2 to 15 have their own dedicated courses, ensuring that the event remains inclusive and family-friendly. A new push bike category for toddlers aged 2–7 is being introduced this year, reflecting the festival’s commitment to involving even the youngest members of the community.
Participation soars past the previous year’s 2,443 entries, signaling a rising cultural momentum toward fitness and wellbeing. As more Filipinos embrace the benefits of regular physical activity, cycling has emerged as an accessible and enjoyable way to stay fit.
“Cycling isn’t just a sport – it’s a lifestyle and a movement,” said organizing Sunrise Events, Inc. president and general manager Princess Galura.
Beyond the excitement of the ride, the Shopwise Bike Fest serves a deeper purpose – to inspire health consciousness across diverse demographics. Families, fitness enthusiasts and community members unite in their shared pursuit of a better quality of life through an active lifestyle.
To ensure a smooth and safe experience for all, selected roads will be temporarily closed, and participation is open to a wide range of cyclists – from road bikers and BMX riders to mountain bikers, gravel riders and foldable bike users. To maintain safety and fairness, however, fixed-gear and e-bikes are excluded from this year’s lineup.
The event also reinforces Imus City’s growing reputation as a hub for community-centered wellness initiatives. Meanwhile, the Vermosa Sports Hub reaffirms its commitment to championing health-forward activities, with hopes to host even more enriching events in the future.
