“I’ll do my best to be a better mayor,” declared Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso shortly after his official proclamation as the newly elected mayor of Manila on Tuesday, May 13, following his victory in the 2025 midterm elections.

Reclaiming the mayoralty in the capital city, Domagoso emphasized his commitment to improving governance and serving Manila residents more effectively.

His decisive victory over incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan marked a significant political comeback, reaffirming the trust placed in him by the city’s voters.

The proclamation ceremony, held at the Manila City Hall by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) City Board of Canvassers, was attended by election officers, supporters, and members of the media.

As he received his certificate of proclamation, Domagoso expressed gratitude to the people of Manila for their renewed trust, pledging to advance programs that uplift the lives of ordinary citizens.

“Kalmahin ninyo ang mga sarili n’yo. Huwag tayong mag away-away. Let’s move on with our lives,” he said.

Domagoso served as Manila mayor from 2019 to 2022 before running for the presidency in 2022, a race he lost.

He is set to officially assume office on June 30, 2025, as mandated by law. (Diann Ivy Calucin)
