Lani Misalucha will return to the concert stage to celebrate her 40th year in show business.

Titled “Still, Lani,” the concert will be held in The Theater at Solaire on August 21.

The singer is quite thrilled about it.

“It’s been a while since I performed live here so yeah, I’m really excited about it,” she told us.

Note that Lani is staging the concert amid the many “changes” that she continues to experience following her bout with bacterial meningitis.

“To be honest, marami ang nagbago sa akin matapos ang struggle ko against bacterial meningitis. Una is yung deafness. I’m partially deaf sa right ear. Meron din akong tinnitus at vertigo. Siyempre pa, hindi na tayo bumabata so andami talaga.”

Despite this, Lani is still eager to perform for fans.

“Oo naman. I owe it to them. Wala ako rito kung hindi rin dahil sa kanila. And yeah, I want to continue performing na rin for my own sake. Ayoko naman na nasa bahay lang, nakahiga.”

She divulged, “Honestly, for a time, ayoko kumanta. Ni lumabas ayoko. Ayoko makipag-socialize. Kasi nga, dahil na rin sa diperensya ko sa tenga. Medyo nahihya ako kasi hindi ko naiintindihan ang kausap ko.”

Lani has since learned to live with her situation.

“Yun lang siguro talaga ‘yung key to it. Acceptance. Kasi kung hindi mo ma-accept, wala. You’re just going to feel really hurtful, magiging spiteful ka sa buhay. So, ito na yun. At least buhay. Nakaka-function pa,” she maintained.

Does this mean she won’t be going all-out in terms of her performance in the concert?

“Ay, no,” she blurted. “I’m going to do my best as always. Ever since naman. Like I said, I’ve learned to accept my situation and so, I learned how to perform with it na rin. To be honest, wala ako problema sa singing abilities ko.”

As to what fans can expect at the concert, she said, “Of course, I will sing all the hits kasi siyempre there are songs na talagang hinahanap ng mga tao. In terms of pasabog, let’s see, ayoko naman ipre-empt yung concert. You have to be there to find out.”

Produced by Backstage Entertainment, a division of Backstage Manila, and spearheaded by producers Nate Quijano and Cris Mananquil, the concert will be helmed by Calvin Neria.

Music direction is by Toma Cayabyab, son of National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.
