Jomari Yllana is back to doing his other passion: Car racing.

The actor-politician is staging what is considered the biggest motorsport event to be mounted in the Philippines in years – the Okada Manila Motorsport Carnivale 2025.

Starting on Sunday, May 4, the event kicks off with a Super Sprint from 6 AM to 6 PM, followed by a Grand Car Meet (Legends of the 90s) at 7 p.m.

Of course, there’s more.

All set to happen on May 31 is Jom’s Cup, a 1/8 mile drag race challenge to be held at the Boardwalk and Gardens of Okada.

There will be different categories consisting of Super Car, Muscle Car, Vintage Car. Each category shall have from 30 to 40 participants.

Then there’s the EV car showcase with guest celebrities.

Said Jomari, “The whole project is meant to highlight the best of local racing. I want to encourage Filipinos to embrace the rich history of Philippine motorsports by rallying all racing enthusiasts into one community.”

This doesn’t mean he is saying goodbye to showbiz.

He said, “I’m planning to take on more showbiz work in the coming months. Medyo lumaki tayo so, I want to get fit muna para naman hindi nakakahihiyang humarap sa camera.”

Jomari also wants to direct a docu-series about the rebirth of motorsport in the country.

As to politics, Jomari said, “Pahinga muna tayo siguro. I’m on my third term as Parañaque City councillor so, I don’t know, let’s see.”
