Excitement abounds as the Divine Diva, the one and only Zsa Zsa Padilla, makes a grand comeback to the concert scene.

She is staging “Zsa Zsa: Through The Years,” a concert happening May 17 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater at the Ayala Malls Circuit Grounds, Makati, to mark her 42nd year in show business.

She shared, “This concert is two years in the making. Actually, dapat para sa 40th year ko itong concert na ito kaya lang, nauudlot due to many reasons.”

Among them was a health concern that never seemed to go away.

Zsa Zsa related, “For many years, I’ve had endless battles with UTI (urinary tract infection) and taking oral antibiotics became routine.

“It has bothered me for as long as I can remember. Kahit noong bata pa ako, madalas pinapaupo ako ng nanay ko sa planggana with warm water.

“Eventually, in 2007, my doctors found out that I had a mega ureter. May structural problem daw ako and eventually I had to undergo surgery for that.”

But that wasn’t the end of it.

A few years ago, Zsa Zsa had to contend with another infection.

“It was harder to cure. Yun pala, I became resistant na to most antibiotics. Bumabalik na yung ihi ko and my left kidney was not functioning well. Ang nangyari pabalik-balik na ang infection ko and I was worried…”

To cut a long story short, Zsa Zsa underwent another surgery last year, this time in Singapore.

“So far, so good,” she said. “Hopefully, this time tuloy tuloy na ang pag-ayos ng katawan ko.”

Zsa-Zsa is currently busy preparing for her concert, which she promised to be something really “special.”

“Although I cannot divulge too much kasi siyempre ayaw ko naman ma-spoil yung surprise na inihanda namin but it’s going to be quite memorable.”

Upon further goading, however, Zsa Zsa revealed the concert will feature performances from daughters Zia and Karylle.

“May mga special numbers kami na inihanda and I think these will be the highlights of the concert,” said Zsa Zsa.

Then there’s the appearance of her friends Erik Santos and Gary Valenciano.

“Ay, of course. I’m going to do something different with Gary and Erik. Something na hindi pa naming ginawa ever. Surprise din ang mga yun.”

“What I’m saying is that, it is not just a concert, but a celebration of an incredible journey, a tribute to all wonderful mothers out there and a pre-birthday treat for all of us to enjoy.”

Zsa Zsa first gained notice in the early 80s with her stint as member of the legendary Pinoy group Hotdog.

After going solo, Zsa Zsa notched a number of hits including OPM classics like “Kahit Na,” “Point Of No Return,” “Hiram,” “Ikaw Lamang,” “Mula Sa Puso,” and “Mambobola.”

She also gained renown for her marked covers of such classic such as “We’re All Alone,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and “Through The Years.”

Zsa Zsa would also make mark as actress both on TV and the big screen.

Directed by Rowell Santiago with Homer Flores as musical director, tickets for “Zsa Zsa: Through The Years,” are now available online via TicketWorld.
