Junior Altas officially book semis slot in NCAA HS tournament

The University of Perpetual Help Junior Altas officially booked their second straight Final Four appearance in the NCAA Sesaon 100 Juniors Basketball Championship with a 104-69 drubbing of the San Sebastian Staglets on Tuesday, March 25, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The wards of coach Joph Cleopas were sharp offensively and rock-solid defensively right from the very start and created enough separation early on the way to a convincing win.

Standing tall for the Junior Altas was 6-foot-7 Lebron Jhames Daep who imposed his will inside to help power the Tamayo-owned institution to the semis round.

Daep tallied 20 points, 6 boards, an assist and a steal in just a little over 20 minutes of play as the Junior Altas hiked their record to 7-1.

They clinch the top seed if they beat reigning titlists Letran Squires.

JD Pagulayan accounted for four of the team’s 11 triples to finish with 15 that went well with his 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Jan Roluna had 11 and Louie Rosales chipped in 10.

Leading the way for SSC-R was Sanlea Penaverde with a double-double performance of 25 pts and 11 boards.
