URATEX Dream made a surprising run to the finals of the 3X3 Basketball Thailand International League 2025 before settling for the runner-up honors this past weekend in Bangkok.
Without top gun Kaye Pingol, Paris Olympian Saicha Grant-Allen took charge for the Filipino club as the Dream gave it their all before bowing to hometown team CT Tigers, 22-16.
Hazelle Yam and Sam Harada also played pivotal parts in Uratex’s run as they also had support from Japanese reinforcement Shinobu Yoshitake.
The team first swept Pool C with a 21-13 victory over Shoot It Dragons of Thailand and a 21-12 win over Harimau Yellow of Malaysia to earn direct qualification in the quarterfinals.
Dream would then dispose of Jumpshot Singapore, 21-13, and fend off Shoot It Dragons anew, 18-12, before falling to CT Tigers led by world no. 8 Khulan Onolbaatar of Mongolia in the finale.
Uncle Drew, composed of Trina Guytingco, Alexis Pana, and Korean imports Ji Young Kim and Lee Seul Shin, also made it to the semifinals of the invitational 3×3 tourney.
Despite going winless in pool play, the Philippine-based crew took down Sriracha Eagle, 21-17, in the quarters before losing to the eventual champions, 21-8.
