Vince Paras made quick work of India’s Mohammed Shamim, scoring a third-round knockout victory on Sunday, Feb. 16, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The General Santos native was aggressive from the get-go, knocking down his taller foe in the first two rounds with furious left hooks before unleashing a devastating straight in the third that sent Shamim to the canvas.
The blow was so strong, prompting the referee to halt the match.
The win improved Paras’ record to 23-3-1, while Shamim dropped to 6-6-0.
As a former challenger for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International light flyweight crown and the International Boxing Federation (IBF) mini flyweight belt, Paras’ ultimate goal is to secure a world title in the near future which his promoter Sanman Boxing believes is within reach.
“Vince demonstrated that he is at the world-class level. In 2025, we look forward to a world title shot,” said Sanman Boxing CEO Jim Claude Manangquil.
The 5-foot-3 boxer is currently ranked fifth in the IBF flyweight rankings and 11th in the WBC flyweight division.
