Carl Tamayo and Changwon kept their streak going as the LG Sakers escaped the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus, 69-67, in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Thursday, Jan. 30.

Yang Jun-Seok starred for Changyon’s 6th straight win, coming through with a difficult lay-up at the 1:28 mark of the fourth quarter.

Tamayo nearly turned into a goat after turning the ball but Andrew Nicholson missed a potential game-winning triple.

Also delivering the goods for Changwon was Assem Marei who produced a double-double performance of 14 points – including six in the final minutes – and 11 rebounds. Tamayo and Jun-Seok backed him up with 14 apiece.

Nicholson, who caught fire in the payoff period, tallied 23 points and 12 rebounds while SJ Belangel chalked 23 points, two rebounds and seven assists.

The Sakers hiked their record to 20-13 at third spot while the Pegasus slipped to 18-15.

Meanwhile, JD Cagulangan’s Sonicboom and Kevin Quiambao’s Goyang Sono Skygunners clash later Friday.
