PARIS — EJ Obiena failed thrice to hurdle the 5.95-meter barrier and finished fourth in the Paris Olympics Monday, Aug. 5 (Tuesday, Manila time), at the Stade de France here.

It was another heartbreaker for the 28-year-old “Anak ng Tondo” who arrived in the adorable French capital looking to end the country’s 88 years of medal drought in athletics.

Obiena, however, managed only to sail past the 5.90 meters.

As expected, Armand Duplantis retained his title right after clearing 6.0 meters.
