Student miraculously survives car crash

CALASIAO, Pangasinan – A 19-year-old student miraculously escaped death when the car he was driving slammed into a tree and steel fence on Calasiao-San Carlos road in Barangay Mancup Calasiao Pangasinan Sunday morning.

Lt. Col. Ferdinand “Bingo” de Asis, Calasiao chief of police, said the car – a metallic orange Toyota Vios (A2R-810) – was a total wreck, but its driver – Rob Edison Demaisip of Barangay Buenlag, Calasiao – came out unscathed after the crash.

The car is registered under the name of Richmond Perez of Barangay Balingueo, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan, police said.

According to police report, Demaisip was driving the car at about 1:45 a.m. when he lost control of the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to crash into the tree and steel fence owned by one Carmen Maningding, 77.

The driver was taken to Pangasinan Provincial Hospital for check up, while the vehicle was turned over to the custody of the duty barangay official. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
