16-year-old boy hangs self after breakup with girlfriend

BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – A mother is grieving over the death of her 16-year-old son whose body was found hanging from a tree on Friday, following his breakup with his girlfriend in Barangay Bacnono here.

Juvelita Galsim, 50, said that prior to the death of her son, John Mark, student, he informed her of his split up with his girlfriend Ella on Thursday night.

The boy then went out for a coffee break with his friend Mark Rohan Macasieb who advised him not to take the matter seriously.

Staff Sgt. Kristian B. de Villa, investigator, said that the two boys went home around 10 p.m. on Thursday.

His friend told police that he never thought something would happen to his friend the following day.

Police said the victim was found hanging from a tamarind tree just near their house around 8 a.m. Friday.

The boy was brought to Bayambang District Hospital but was declared dead.
