Dear Doc Rica,

I am a woman trapped inside a man’s body! I have been wondering kung it will help taking birth control pills for female hormones. May kailangan ba akong malaman before hand na risks bago ako magpunta sa doktor? Hindi naman ako nababother with female hormones. Anu-ano po ang dapat kong itanong sa doktor pag nagpakonsulta ako? Salamat po sa inyong time.

Tama lang ang iyong decision to seek medical advice especially sa iyong plans to take new medication. Pakiramdam ko, ang pagte-take ng birth control pills ay para mas maging feminine ka at mukhang matagal mo na itong pinag-iisipan. Maganda din ang iyong ginagawa na pag-research at pag-seek ng advice bago mo ito biglang gawin.

Hindi lahat ng birth control pills ay pare-pareho ang epekto sa katawan. Hindi din lahat ay nagko-contain ng estrogen. Ang mga hormonal birth control pills ay may iba’t ibang levels ng synthetic hormones estrogen or progestin para maregulate ang menstrual cycle. Usually, hindi ito pine-prescribe para magkaroon ng mas feminine na pakiramdam ang isang tao. Kahit naman sa mga babae, may side effects ang mga pills. Pero syempre, konti lang ang information and research na mahahanap natin kapag ito ay tine-take ng isang lalaki.

Hormone therapy usually ang ginagawa ng mga lalaking gustong maging mas feminine at mabawasan ang testosterone or “macho” hormone sa katawan. Estrogen and anti-androgen ang usually pine-prescribe sa mga individuals who want to do that. Pero crucial ang physical exams at blood tests dito dahil sa kidney and liver functions. Estrogen therapy kasi ay associated with higher risk of high blood, liver problems, stroke and diabetes.

May iba’t ibang ways to explore, express and understand your feminine side. Proceed with caution with medication and essential to seek advice from a professional. Try to find the best fit that will help you with expressing your femininity. Good luck, enjoy and always be safe.
