Ex-cop, Sputnik man shot dead in Quiapo

A former police officer and a Sputnik Gang member were killed by four gunmen while aboard a public utility jeepney in Quiapo, Manila Thursday.

Police identified the victims as Felizardo Pablico, 49, of Sta. Cruz, Manila; and Reynaldo Nuque Jr., 49, of Barangay Tugatog, Malabon City.

Police said Pablico was reportedly a member of the Sputnik Gang while Nuque was a former police officer detailed at the Caloocan City Police Station, who went on absence without leave (AWOL).

Investigation showed that the victims were onboard a jeepney on Quezon Boulevard at around 10 a.m.

The unidentified suspects clad in black jackets, helmets, and face masks appeared on the right side of the vehicle and opened fire at the victims before fleeing toward Recto Ave.

Police learned that the victims were arrested and detained at Manila Police Station 3 in November 2020 for illegal possession of firearms and robbery-holdup. (Minka Tiangco)
