4.5 quake hits Davao Occidental

BUTUAN CITY – A 4.5-magnitude earthquake hit Davao Occidental province before midnight Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

Phivolcs said tremor was recorded at 11:19 p.m. and the epicenter was plotted 215 kilometers (kms) southeast of Joe Abad Santos town, Davao Occidental province.

The tremor had a depth of 33 kms, Phivolcs said.

The earthquake was tectonic in origin and no aftershock or tsunami alert was raised by the state agency. (Mike U. Crismundo)
