CAGAYAN – Twenty-six passengers and eight crews on board a motorboat were rescued after the vessel capsized at the seaport of Ivana, Batanes on Friday.
Police Regional Office 2 reported that M/B Sto. Tomas was leaving the port at about 9:40 a.m. when the rope of its anchor got entangled with its propeller, causing its engine to malfunction.
Pat. Paul Francis Barsana, officer-on-case, said the crew tried to remove the rope but due to strong waves and current, the motorboat tilted.
The passengers and crew were immediately rescued by authorities. (Liezle Basa Inigo)
