ISANG LARO: Love is a game, an online game.

From this thesis comes “Isang Laro,” theme of Gameboys, said to be the first boy-love (BL) series ever produced in the country.

A fresh set of new OPM songs composed by the show’s musical director, Emerzon Texon, accompanies the debuting series. “Isang Laro,” the love theme of the series, aptly captures the idea of love being played like a game.

The song was performed by Singapore-based Pinoy singer Nasser, a YouTube sensation.

BOY LOVE: BL is a new TV production trend that started in Thailand chronicling young love between and among gay boys.

IdeaFirst, the production house owned and operated by couple Jun Lana and Perci Intalan, is the first local company to jump in on the new trend that has been making an impact in Southeast Asia.

“Gameboys” stars two newbie actors, Kokoy de Santos and Elijah Canlas. It follows the budding love story of two online gamers set during this pandemic when people are quarantined at home.

The series has been winning fans across multiple digital platforms worldwide. From amassing over a million combined views on YouTube, to becoming a number one trending topic on Twitter worldwide, it is now heading to Spotify with its own soundtrack album.

Its director, Ivan Andrew Payawal, is being praised for his clever use of internet and mobile platforms to tell a love story.
