Authorities seized Monday a total of 4.125 kilos of shabu worth about P28 million from a Thai woman at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) reported.

NAIA Customs collector Carmelita Talusan identified the suspect as Pakjira Janwong who arrived in Manila at around 3 a.m. via AirAsia flight Z2-288.

Before flying to Manila, Janwong visited Lao, Myanmar and Malaysia, according to the BoC, citing her travel record.

She was stopped by a Customs examiner at the arrival area who asked her to open her luggage.

According to Talusan, the passenger’s luggage was subjected to X-ray scanning which yielded images of suspected dangerous drugs.

During inspection, BoC personnel found inside the luggage white crystalline substances which were later confirmed to be shabu.

Janwong and the drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. (Ariel Fernandez)
