PetroGazz swept the five-game, first-round elims without dropping a set that include a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 triumph over BanKo-Perlas last May 29.

Angels coach Arnold Laniog, however, said they are more focused on their performance than on their standings.

“Yung panalo, dumadating naman yun eh, basta’t mag-perform ka nang maayos,” said Laniog, adding that they are expecting stiffer competition in the second round now that they are on top of the standings.

BanKo-Perlas, however, is not just looking at redemption but also on winning as many matches as it can to catch up at the leaderboard after finishing first round with a 2-3 mark to settle in the middle standings.

Coming off a stinging 25-22, 23-25, 27-29, 25-20, 15-7 loss to Pacifictown Army over the weekend, the Perlas Spikers are determined to get back on track with Lakia Bright, Yasemin Yildirim and Kathy Bersola leading the assault.
