Ochoa settles for bronze in world jiu-jitsu tilt

Jiu Jitsu fighter Meggie Ochoa gave the country something to brag about anew after a bronze medal finish in the World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship held recently in Long Beach, California.

The 28-year-old Ochoa, carrying the colors of the Atos Wolfpack, placed third overall in adult Brown-Rooster category behind Jessica Caroline Coelho Dantas of Brasa CTA and Amber Rymarz-Freitas of Gracie Barra.

Ochoa won her opening match opposite Luna Barea of the Roger Gracie Academy during the qualifiers before downing Iori Echigo of Tri-Force Jiu Jitsu Academy in the quarterfinals.

Her good run came to an end when she lost to Rymarz-Freitas in the semifinals. (Waylon Galvez)
