DOST-SEI invites science, math teachers to join InnoBox contest.

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute is calling on the country’s public and private elementary and secondary school educators who are currently teaching science and/or mathematics to submit proposals for the “InnoBox” or Innovation in a Box competition.

“InnoBox” is a nationwide search for the most innovative teaching and learning resources which can be used in teaching both science and mathematics.

The idea behind “InnoBox” is for educators to come up with ideas for a more engaging learning experience in the classroom, as they embrace new roles as innovators and designers of learning environment.

“We’re always on the lookout for teachers who are keen on improving science and math education in the country,” DOST-SEI Director Dr. Josette Biyo said.

DOST-SEI, best known for implementing various science scholarship programs, recognizes the crucial role of teachers in strengthening science and technology in the country.

Now on its second run, the project aims to encourage educators to be innovative, creative, and practical in teaching science and math concepts to improve students’ performance in these subjects.

Nine teachers/group of teachers (three per category) will be given P50,000 each to develop their project prototype. The top three winners (one per category) will receive a plaque of recognition and P100,000 each.

DOST-SEI invites all qualified teachers to submit proposals in any of the following search categories: Grades 3-6, Grades 7-10 and Grades 11-12. The proposed learning resources must not have been awarded or given any kind of special recognition in previous competitions. Deadline for submission is on July 12.
