A 20-year-old Myanmar national was arrested by the police in Mandaluyong City Friday for allegedly stealing P1.8 million from the business process outsourcing company he was working for.
Police Col. Moises Villaceran Jr., Mandaluyong police chief, identified the suspect as Zaw Htet Aung.
Villaceran said that Aung was in charge of receiving and depositing the collection money of the company.
However, Aung diverted the money to his personal bank account.
“The discrepancy was discovered when the management of the company conducted an audit and inventory,” Villaceran said.
A police report showed that Aung allegedly planned to spend the money on a high-end KTV bar.
The company closely monitored his activities and reported Aung to the authorities, the police report added.
The suspect is now detained at the Mandaluyong police detention cell and will face a charge of qualified theft. (Jhon Aldrin Casinas)
