The Makati Skyscrapers and the Navotas Clutch edged their respective foes on Wednesday night in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Angeles University Foundation gym in Pampanga.
The Skyscrapers squeaked past the Pampanga Lanterns, 69-67, to clinch their seventh win against four losses while the Clutch downed the Parañaque Patriots, 90-83, to improve to 5-6.
Cedric Ablaza scored 13 points and hauled 14 rebounds for the Skyscrapers, while Jeckster Apinan, Rudy Lingganay and John Rey Villanueva combined for 39 points.
Jai Reyes and Ron Dennison, meanwhile, finished with 18 points apiece for the Clutch even as Marlon Gomez had 15 points and 14 points.
The Lanterns and the Patriots dropped to 4-8 and 6-6 records, respectively.
