BE careful with the thoughts that run through your head.

As someone aptly puts it, “It’s not what we say out loud that really determines our lives. It’s what we whisper to ourselves that has the most power.” It’s self-talk – the way we talk to ourselves… our inner voice.

Do you tell yourself statements of this kind most of the time? “I can do it.” “I am a valuable person.” “This feeling will not last forever.” “I survived before. I will survive now.” “I forgive myself for my past mistakes.” “Blessings will overtake me.”

Can you see the power that such examples of positive self-talk bring? These and other similar statements are the ones that help us find hope and meaning in our lives.

What if a person feeds himself the opposite of the above-mentioned statements? Can you imagine the effect? Right, a negative self-talk makes a person believe and feel that he is defeated, unworthy, and hopeless. As a result, it makes him insecure, complacent, unproductive, and miserable.

What self-defeating words and beliefs do you need to avoid or discard for a productive, meaningful, and happy life? Words are very powerful. If you want positive effects in your life, engage in positive self-talk.
