FORMER Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson has dismissed reports that she was fired by President Duterte as fake news.

Uson, speaking on her radio program yesterday, insisted that she resigned from her post, and has not been asked to step down.

“Huwag lang sana magpakalat ng fake news,” she said when she learned about an online news report that the President supposedly fired her from her job.

“Hindi nga ako pinag-resign. Nag-resign ako. Ngayon ang sinasabi nila na pinatalsik daw ako so pinapamukha nila na parang sinu-ngaling ako,” she said.

Uson, appearing in a budget hearing at the Senate last Oct. 3, announced her resignation to facilitate the approval of the proposed 2019 budget of the Presidential Communications Operations Office. She claimed that some lawmakers were delaying the approval of the PCOO budget after she missed the budget deliberations since she was abroad.

“I do not wish to cause such burden to the office, hence I am hereby notifying you of my resignation effective 1 Oct. 2018,” Uson said in a letter to the President dated Sept. 28.

In her radio program, Uson explained that she submitted her resignation letter to the Office of the President which has been accepted.

“Kung ayaw ninyo pa rin maniwala at gumagawa kayo ng kwento, ‘di tanungin ninyo si Presidente,” she said.

She said unlike others who sought a one-on-one meeting with the President before leaving government, she opted not to disturb the President anymore since he was dealing with many problems. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
