RAISE your hand if you have realized that majority of the things you worried about did not even happen, yet the negative effects of worrying were obvious.

The moment we entertain worries, they start to cause problems in different areas of our lives. We don’t gain anything at all. Instead, we lose so much of what we have and what we value. Worrying takes away our happiness, peace of mind, good disposition, and energy. It affects our concentration, sleep, and even our looks!

Know the practical things that you can do to address your concerns. Acknowledge that you need other people’s support. Confide in a wise and trusted friend or counselor. Do what you can, and leave what you can’t to the Lord of the universe. Devote more time to your passion and to spiritual activities. We tend to worry too much about things of this world. We forget that we are spiritual beings in material bodies.

How many of the things you worried about did not even happen? How has worrying affected your health, work, and personal life? That should give you more reasons to avoid worrying too much.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
