A 17-YEAR-OLD Filipino singer made waves at the ongoing 15th season of “X Factor UK” with her rendition of a classic hit song by Prince.
Marie Laroco flew all the way from the Philippines to join the singing competition in the hopes of starting a career as singer.
“Since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to be an international superstar. I want to be big. So that’s why I am doing this because I love to do it and this is my dream,” Laroco said.
Laroco’s version of Prince’s “Purple Rain” earned her a standing ovation from the show’s judges, Robbie Williams, Ayda Field, Louis Tomlinson, and Simon Cowell.
She is no stranger to talent competitions as she has already competed in the Philippines’ version of “The Voice Kids” in 2014. (Neil Ramos)
