Pacesetting National University rose from a four-point deficit in the fifth set to turn back defending champion La Salle, 26-24, 19-25, 22-25, 25-17, 16-14, yesterday and keep its record intact in UAAP women’s volleyball at The Arena in San Juan City.

Down 12-8, the Lady Bulldogs turned to Jaja Santiago and Aiko Urdas in delivering the crucial attacks for their fourth straight victory.

La Salle absorbed its first loss in four outings despite the all-around efforts of Majoy Baron and Kim Dy.

In men’s action, NU and UST whipped their respective foes to hike their respective tallies to 3-1.

Bryan Bagunas scored 16 points as the Bulldogs swept the La Salle Archers, 27-25, 25-16, 25-20, while Arnold Bautista and Joshua Medina conspired for 28 points to steer the Tigers past the Adamson Falcons, 25-20, 25-21, 14-25, 25-22. (Kristel Satumbaga)
