SAN JUAN, Batangas – A police officer on duty who was conducting police patrol was gunned down by riding-in-tandem gunmen along the national highway of Barangay Buhay na Sapa here, Saturday.
A report from Batangas Police Provincial Office (BPPO) identified the victim as Police Officer 1 Jay-R Bico Cartaciano, 30, assigned at San Juan Municipal Station and a resident of Barangay Calit-Calit this town.
Cartaciano was riding a police patrol motorcycle when shot from behind by suspects who fled afterwards at around 7:15 p.m.
The victim was on his way to the Police Assistance Center (PAC) Base in Barangay Laiya where his police team was conducting a checkpoint.
Authorities are still conducting follow up operations for the possible arrest of the suspects.
