President Duterte on Sunday defended granddaughter Isabelle Duterte’s pre-debut photoshoot in Malacañang that was called by netizens as inappropriate last week.

Duterte, speaking during the birth anniversary celebration of Sen. Manny Pacquiao in General Santos City, said the photoshoot for her 18th birth anniversary should not be an issue.

“Ano ba naman ‘yan? Kadugo ko ‘yan eh. Small matter, gamitin lang ‘yung Malacañang. Wala naman ako doon,” Duterte said.

“But even if I was there, itong granddaughter ko magpa-picture, lahat nga ng mga bisita pumupunta diyan, nagpapa-picture eh,” he added.

Isabelle is the daughter of Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his former wife Lovelie Sangkola Sumera.

Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said there is nothing wrong with Isabelle’s photoshoot in Malacanang.

Roque said Duterte’s granddaughter and her team of stylists and makeup artists went through proper documentation before the photoshoot.

Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson also defended Isabelle and dared those who criticized Duterte’s granddaughter to file a case. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
