Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II believes there is nothing wrong if the public supports the revolutionary government (RevGov) proposed by President Duterte.
“Meron kasi naniniwala na ang RevGov ay magpapadali ng pagbabago,” Aguirre told reporters yesterday.
“So lahat naman tayo may right to express our own opinion,” he pointed out.
During the celebration of Andres Bonifacio Day on Thursday, various groups converged at Mendiola in Manila to show support for Duterte’s RevGov which is seen to usher the federal form of government.
Supporters expressed belief that a revolutionary government would address the country’s problems, particularly the threat of terrorism, criminality, corruption, and illegal drugs.
Despite public support, Duterte said he hopes he would not have to declare a revolutionary government.
“There’s no need really to declare a revolutionary government. I hope there will never be a time that I will be compelled to call for it,” he said.
“Only when the Republic of the Philippines is dying, siguro. But other than that, wala,” he added. (Jeffrey Damicog)
