Commission on Elections Chairman Andres Bautista has officially stepped down from his post.

Bautista received a letter from Malacanang yesterday stating that his resignation has been accepted effective immediately.

“This afternoon I already received the response from the Office of the President signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea saying my resignation has been accepted effective immediately,” said Bautista.

“The President has spoken so we should respect it,” he added.

Bautista tendered his resignation last Oct. 11 to President Duterte due to personal reasons effective Dec. 31 for an orderly transition and enough time to choose his successor. (Leslie Ann G. Aquino)
