TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has intensified its drive against dengue after cases were found increasing in the first month of the year.
The PHO-Technical Services Branch, citing a report from the Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU) said dengue-related incidents were on the upward trend with the 280 cases recorded in the province’s seven districts from January 1 to 28 alone.
The case number was contained in the PESU Morbidity Weeks 1-4 reports.
The reports revealed that of the 280 dengue cases recorded during the period, General Trias, a city in Sixth District, had the most number with 49, then Imus District, 37, Dasmariñas District, also with 37, and Bacoor District, 34.
The Region 4-A Health Office reported that Cavite had the most number of dengue cases among the provinces in the region in January this year.
Cavite reportedly comprises 33 percent of the total case number in the region.
Nine dengue deaths and 845 cases were recorded in the region during the month. The case breakdown is as follows:
